Public Library Bad Sobernheim

The public library Bad Sobernheim is an institution, cooperatively managed by the Protestant Church Bad Sobernheim and the municipality of Bad Sobernheim. Since April of 2010 the library is situated in the former synagogue, which is now known as the “Kulturhaus Synagoge”. On an area of 200 sqm, divided on two floors, we offer a media collection consisting of around 6.500 pieces, for our guests to borrow.

Within our library, we established a free lending system, plus we offer the lending of electronic media via “Onleihe Rheinland-Pfalz” for 10 € per year.

Offering specific literature for children and young families is one of the focal points regarding the concept of our library. In addition to our regular lending services, we also organise events such as readings or picture book – cinemas.

Our volunteer team currently consists of 9 employees, headed by Elke Zedlitz.

As a sample library, we wish to contribute to the project “Sprachräume – Büchereien für Integration” because…

… “our library has always been a place for people to come together. In our eyes, this project provides a great opportunity for refugees to get to know our library and its offerings as a welcoming and comforting space to learn. We are thankful to be given this opportunity to gain new experience.”
